In 2011 she defended her thesis at the University of Glasgow on Michael Chekhov “Stanislavski´s Directors: Michael Chekhov and the Revolution in Lithuanian Theatre of the 1930s“.
Later she started carving wood and became interested in puppets, wooden marionettes in particular. She learned from books and Youtube videos, and took courses with established wood makers in Czechia, Italy and the UK. In the Tradional Arts Centre in Prienai, Lithuania she learned to carve with a chainsaw. Loving wood as a material and exploring it more and more, starting making masks, spoons, home ornaments, she is now engaged in figurative, carved benches and sculptures:
“I am particularly drawn to the human form and the vast opportunities it presents for artistic capture, whether it's humorous, grotesque, mischievous, or just well-engineered“.
She lives in Scotland, mainly Glasgow and surrounding areas.
